BUSINESS CURRICULUM

Olin BSBA students call our classes challenging, stimulating and, most of all, interactive.

As a freshman, you'll jump right into your Olin experience with the basics, which will position you for the advanced options you'll choose from later.

  • Business courses in all the major disciplines with their emphasis on rigorous critical thinking teach you to approach management problems analytically and strategically.
  • Group projects and the interactive environment of Olin classrooms amplify your leadership and teamwork abilities.
  • You'll customize the curriculum with a broad spectrum of business and other electives.

But you'll also take at least 40 percent of your classes in areas outside of business. The flexibility of Washington University's curriculum enables you to pursue a minor, a second major or even a second undergraduate degree in another Washington University school.

Teaching and Mentoring
Olin's faculty is known for great teaching, leading-edge research and business-world experience. You'll find faculty members accessible for one-on-one consultations and approachable as individuals and mentors. They'll encourage you to visit them outside of class to discuss course work, independent research projects, career options and extracurricular programs. All courses are taught by faculty members, not by graduate students. You'll also get coaching from your academic and career advisers, and from the consultants in the Management Communication Lab, who will help you hone your communication, interview and presentation skills.

Applied Learning
Hands-on courses and projects let you explore career options and gain industry and functional expertise increasing your value to prospective employers. You also develop networking contacts and mentors who can help you throughout your career.

  • Be part of a consulting team for a corporation or nonprofit agency.
  • Manage a portion of the school's endowment fund.
  • Develop a business idea of your own or one brought to us by entrepreneurs interested in a business startup.
