BUILDING A CAMPUS PRESENCE

Get Involved
If you’re interested in Olin talent for an immediate or future position, check out the various recruiting events sponsored by our Weston Career Center.

If you’re not currently in hiring mode, you can still start to build your visibility on campus. The following are just a few of the ways you can get involved with Olin students.

Each fall in St. Louis, Meet the Firms events connect students with prospective employers
at business school career fairs hosted at the Charles F. Knight Executive Education & Conference Center.

In January, Road Shows bring our students and employer relations team to various areas (New York, Chicago and Silicon Valley) for company visits, networking receptions and sometimes interviews. Hosting students builds awareness for your company and gives you an opportunity to preview our talent on your home ground.

Workshops, Courses and Panels
Many companies become actively involved in courses and extracurricular events. For example:
  • General Electric sponsored a student consulting Practicum to evaluate the launch of its Monogram Ultra high-end appliance line in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
  • Companies such as Monsanto, Edward Jones, Best Buy and Essilor present live cases to our MBAs during ICE Week.
  • Deloitte and Bain present “Crack the Case” demonstrations in conjunction with their information sessions.
  • Frito-Lay sponsors the “Super Ad Bowl” and screens the winning ads from its Super Bowl ad competition.
  • Nestlé Purina sponsors an MBA “Brand Camp.”
Our student career management courses rely on the participation of corporate friends for career panels, practice interviews and class speakers. Panelists describe their daily roles, values, skill requirements, likes and dislikes and entry-level opportunities.
  • Late September: MBA Mock Career Fair, a simulated career fair environment where students practice networking, introducing themselves to companies and interviewing.
  • Late September-Late November: "The Olin Experience" panels.
  • Early November: First-Year MBA Mock Interview Day.
  • February-Mid-April: "The Olin Experience" panels.

Student Consulting Teams
Olin’s Center for Experiential Learning (CEL) can help your organization solve business challenges by providing cost-effective management expertise. In the practicum, student teams tackle a problem that you define, guided by a faculty member who has expertise in the area of your project. The Taylor Community Consulting Program provides pro bono consulting for nonprofit organizations.

Projects range from new product introductions and organizational change to financial analysis and operations re-engineering. Other experiential programs focus on international business and globalization, the management of nonprofit organizations, and entrepreneurship.

These programs provide a great opportunity for you to asses our students' on-the-job business skills and leadership potential. In fact, many CEL clients have hired our graduates after working with them on projects. For more information, go to the CEL Web site or call 314-935-4512.

Student Clubs
Our students eagerly seek corporate participation in events. Throughout the academic year, the Weston Career Center partners with student clubs to offer industry-specific and career search-focused workshops that prepare students for the real world.

Faculty Relationships
We encourage company representatives to contact Olin faculty members in order to build relationships and gain insight into our programs and students. Our faculty members are keenly interested in the success of their students and often join recruiters for lunch. And they welcome corporate participation in class lectures and research projects. Networking and Social Events
Connecting with our students needn’t be all work. For example, our alumni periodically sponsor company receptions, and MBA students organize a golf tournament each fall for alumni and other members of the corporate community.
