Yinlan Chen, MBA 2008

On her involvement in Olin's alumni network:

As an alumna, I’ve participated in the International Mentor Program. I’m paired with an international student, and I give guidance in the job search process and developing realistic career goals. It’s very fulfilling to give back. Olin was a great environment, and I’m happy to help the students just as alumni helped me.

On Olin's MBA program:
Although I’d worked in medical software consulting for three years, I just wasn’t passionate about it. I wanted a dramatic career change, and I knew I’d need to go back to school. I wanted a program where I wouldn’t be just another fish in the sea. Olin not only met that criteria, it offered great opportunities for experiential learning and leadership roles.

Getting my MBA was definitely a worthwhile investment. It allowed me to focus my finance skill set and going full time gave me credibility with employers that I was serious about making a career change. It prepared me to hit the ground running in AT&T’s Financial Leadership Program. I did two finance rotations and one operations rotation. Now I'm doing long term capital planning.
