Program Description:

The joint degree program allows students to earn either a Master of Business Administration and Master of Architecture or Master of Business Administration and Master of Urban Design. The degrees are obtained from both Olin Business School and the School of Architecture. The MBA/MUD program typically takes four years to complete. These dual degree programs prepare architects to be cognizant of the larger urban context of architectural practice and to extend their expertise into another discipline. Graduates usually pursue career opportunities in:

  • Architecture
  • Business and development professions
  • Community development and planning
  • Housing development
  • Public policy


  • GRE and GMAT exams
  • MBA/MArch – 51 credit hours (three semesters) at Olin and 51 credit hours (three semesters) in the School of Architecture
  • MBA/MUD (for students with previous professional degree in architecture, landscape architecture, or planning, or those students in their final year of professional study) – four semesters at Olin and two semesters at the School of Architecture
  • Completion of the full core curriculum required by each program
  • One history or theory elective
