Olin brings the business world into the center of your educational experience by providing you with integrated, hands-on learning opportunites.
In It Together
From day one, you’ll be with a group of talented, motivated Cohorts. You’ll take your core classes together and in the same order. Many of these same classmates will stay with you as you branch out into electives.
Small Groups. Big Advantage.
Within your class of Cohorts, you’ll also be placed in Small Learning Groups. These groups are carefully crafted to combine areas of expertise and interests so everyone benefits from each other. What’s more, these groups are ready-made for networking.
An Unmated 30 Electives
No other local university allows you as much freedom to delve into the areas that interest you most. Complete your 24 credit hours of core classes and the next 30 are up to you.
The very nature of a Professional MBA means your classmates are already embedded in corporations. Through class discussions, projects, and weekly social gatherings, you’ll get to know each other and gain an awareness of how you can benefit one another. In addition, you can tap into the experience and expertise of our corporate partners and alumni. You can seek their counsel on our programs and curriculum. Many even provide financial support – and hire you for internships and full-time positions.
Critical thinking means many things. Learning how to ask the right questions and formulate them clearly. Gathering, assessing, and interpreting data. Reaching sound conclusions and solutions. Communicating persuasively and effectively. Our faculty apply critical thinking in their research, and they infuse that same analytical thought process in the learning environment, giving you the critical-thinking skills needed to tackle complex business problems and foster innovation.
Real-World Experience + Experiential Learning
Olin creates powerful connections between businesses and our students. You are already an accomplished professional, but here you’ll find experiential-learning opportunities that can open new doors. Our classrooms, student clubs, and extracurricular activities allow you to explore new career options and gain additional and substantive on-the-job experience, valuable mentors, and networking contacts.
Through elective courses offered by Olin's Center for Experiential Learning, you'll apply your academic work and managerial insight to real business challenges in consulting projects with Olin’s network of Fortune 500 corporations, nonprofit organizations, and startup companies.
Develop your own business plan or one brought to Olin by individuals interested in a group startup. You’ll work in partnership with entrepreneurs and investors. At the end of the course, teams present their analyses to a group of business startup and venture capital experts. Extracurricular entrepreneurship activities such as the Olin Cup business plan competition are offered by the Skandalaris Center for Entrepreneurial Studies, which promotes corporate innovation and the commercialization of new business ideas.
