International Accounting Conference (proposed)
This proposed conference will include practitioners, faculty and students, and will discuss the policy and implementation issues surrounding International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). The event is planned for April 2009.
Accounting Seminar Series
This reoccurring seminar series features presentations by accounting scholars from within and outside of the Olin community. Upcoming and past speakers include faculty from Columbia, Cornell, Duke, London Business School, MIT, Ohio State, Stanford, University of Chicago and University of Pennsylvania. The seminars have covered a broad range of topics including bank transparency, corporate governance, Sarbanes Oxley and disclosure decisions.
Finance Seminar Series
This reoccurring seminar series features presentations by finance scholars from within and outside of the Olin community. Upcoming and past speakers include faculty from Duke, MIT, New York University, Northwestern, Princeton, Stanford, University of Chicago, University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill, University of Texas at Austin and Yale as well as experts from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, International Monetary Fund and Securities and Exchange Commission. The seminars have covered a broad range of topics including initial public offerings, valuation, bankruptcy, credit rating targets, commodities and politics of the mortgage crisis.
Corporate Finance Conference
The 2008 conference took place on October 30-31, 2008. The topics for the conference included:

- Payout Decisions
- Behavioral Aspects of Finance
- Corporate Investment Decisions
- Corporate Governance
The keynote speech of the conference was delivered by Chester Spatt, former Chief Economist of the Securities and Exchange Commission and currently Professor of Finance at Carnegie Mellon’s Tepper School of Business.
- Nick Dopuch Accounting Conference. Each November Olin’s accounting faculty hosts an annual accounting mini conference to create an environment where accounting research is the focal point. The 2008 Conference took place on November 6 and 7, 2008 and featured research presentations by faculty from Washington University, MIT, University of Michigan, University of Chicago and Harvard.
- 2007 Asset Pricing Mini Conference. The conference took place in May 2007 and included presentations by Olin faculty. “Moral Hazard with Bounded Payments” was presented by Ohad Kadan and Jeroen Swinkels. “Corporate Governance and Financing Policy: New Evidence” was presented by Lubomir Litov.
- Finance Symposium. A Finance Symposium was held on September 11, 2008. The event featured a keynote speech by Jeff Rosenkranz, Retired Managing Director and Head of Mergers and Acquisitions, Piper Jaffray. The speech was followed by a panel featuring Kurt Johnson, General Mills Finance; Michelle Lipchin, Capital One; and Carlos Sanchez, Piper Jaffray.
