Transfer Students
The Olin Business School offers transfer enrollment in both fall and spring semesters. The strongest candidates for admission present a strong academic performance from a two-year or four-year college that mirrors most of our academic requirements that our students take during their freshman and sophomore level. For a sophomore transfer candidate, this would include microeconomics and a full year of calculus at the college level. For a junior level transfer candidate, this would also include financial accounting, macroeconomics and perhaps managerial accounting. All transfers to Olin must have completed a full year of calculus at the college level.
The typical semester at Washington University consists of 15 units, or five (5) courses. Thus, students transferring at the beginning of the sophomore year can expect to take approximately 30 courses in residence and students transferring at the beginning of the junior year can expect to take approximately 20 courses in residence. In addition to the degree requirements, transfer students are required to complete a minimum of 60 units residence before they are eligible to graduate. All students are required to earn a minimum of 120 total units to graduate. For more information on transferring to Washington University please visit the Office of Admissions.
Transfer Credit Policy
A maximum of 60 credits will be accepted toward our undergraduate degree. Students must earn at least a "C" grade in the course for the units to transfer to Washington University. Courses taken "online" are not accepted as transfer credit. Grades will not transfer to Washington University. Students who are admitted to the Olin Business School should expect a written course evaluation indicating which courses will be accepted by Olin within two weeks of receiving their acceptance letter.
The Transfer Weekend
The Transfer Weekend is intended to assist new upper-class students with their academic and social transition to Washington University. Participants will have the opportunity to learn about curricular requirements, to meet with their academic advisor and to complete their registration for fall courses. Additional information about this weekend will be posted on the Orientation website after April 15th.
