All enrolled students making satisfactory progress in the program are guaranteed financial aid for five years. This includes full tuition remission plus a stipend for living expenses distributed over 12 months. The minimum annual stipend is $22,000. First year students receive the stipend without any work requirement. From the second year onward, students are expected to work as research and/or teaching assistants ― 400 hours per year for second-, third-, and fifth-year students and 500 hours for fourth-year students.
All applicants are automatically considered for Olin-provided financial aid, no separate application is required. Financial aid funding for incoming students is announced no later than April 15.
Conducting a successful job search frequently requires an outlay of funds that most doctoral students do not anticipate. In addition to the annual stipend, Olin provides funding for the presentation of papers at conferences, and for expenses associated with the completion of your thesis and job search. However, you may wish to seek additional resources such as external grants and fellowships, loans, savings, or family support to supplement the funding provided by the Olin School.
