DIVERSITY

Inclusiveness means celebrating differences, learning from them and developing a better understanding of their importance in today’s global marketplace.

A Commitment to Promoting Diversity
At Olin, we seek a class that represents diversity across a number of important dimensions: academic, professional, cultural, geographic, and otherwise. Most importantly, we aspire to recruit students who offer diversity of thought and ideas (see Class Profile).

We’re a founding member of the Consortium for Graduate Study in Management, an organization that works to diversify the ranks of corporate America – and the student bodies of its 15 member schools – by providing full-tuition scholarships to candidates who are committed to this mission.

Diversity Weekend, held highlights our strong commitment to attracting the most talented, dynamic, and diverse student body possible. We seek highly qualified, underrepresented minority candidates to help achieve this goal.

Women's Weekend recognizes the value that women bring to the workforce and its MBA program. The Olin chapter of the National Association of Women MBA’s will be hosting a weekend for women interested in pursing a graduate business degree. This will be an opportunity to meet current students, alumnae, faculty and staff to demonstrate how women at Olin use their talent and energy to make an immediate, positive impact on our school as well as in the business world.

International Students
More than one-third of our MBAs are from countries outside the United States. We offer special resources to assist international students, including a separate orientation program, an international career advisor and a series of business-oriented English Language Program courses. In addition, Washington University's Office for International Students and Scholars offers a wide range of information and support services.

Student Organizations
Several of our student organizations help us attract a diverse student body.

The Olin Veterans Association, a network of current students, alumni and corporate partners with military backgrounds, works to recruit junior military officers and advises current students on their course selection, résumé preparation and job-search strategies. It also offers a mentorship program and special scholarships.

The Olin Chapter of the National Association of Women MBAs (NAWMBA) encourages the development and advancement of women in business. Olin is also a member of the Forté Foundation. Women offered admission to the full-time MBA program are considered for special Forté Scholarship awards. Members of the Business Minority Council support each other’s academic and career development.

Clubs established by Chinese, Indian, Japanese and Korean students and alumni create additional support networks and often help with the recruitment of MBA candidates.
