Invest in Your Career (MGT 537)
Students get a jump start on their future in this required course, which helps them create a professional development and career strategy plan. In this innovative course, which begins in August, students learn how to pursue their career choices effectively and to manage these chosen careers in ways that are successful and satisfying. The course includes self-assessment exercises, development tools and other techniques to help students optimize their careers and professionalize their presentation and communications skills.

CSI  (Career Skill Inventory)
Career Skill Inventory is an important part of this process. This tool helps determine an individual’s job-search readiness in 10 critical competency areas and provides examples of how each proficiency level is demonstrated. Focus areas include:

  • Career management
  • Self-assessment
  • Emotional intelligence
  • Market research
  • Networking
  • Informational interviews

Advising and Resources
Take advantage of the wealth of resources offered by our Weston Career Center. Located in Simon Hall, the center includes a career library with information on a global array of industries and job functions, along with databases of alumni and corporate contacts. The Weston Career Center also has rooms for videotaping and practicing mock interviews. You direct your job search, and the Weston Career Center staff always is available to coach, counsel and support you.
