ADMISSIONS

Pursuing a PhD in business requires commitment not only from you, but your family and friends as well. You will spend long hours, week in and week out, immersed in course work, studying for prelims, and working on your research.
Your intelligence, the skills you acquire in the basic disciplines (particularly economics, econometrics and statistics), your passion for your chosen field, and an uncompromising work ethic are necessary for successful and timely completion of our program.

To be considered for admission into Olin’s PhD program, you must submit the following:

1) A completed online application.
2) Application fee.
3) Three letters of recommendation.
4) Photo copies* of Transcripts of all prior undergraduate and graduate work.
5) Photo copies* of the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) or the Graduate Record Examination (GRE).The GMAT institution code for the PhD in business is R4T-WG-45. The GRE institution code is 4934.
6) Photo copies of the TOEFL or IELTS (Academic Format) –The TOEFL institution code for Washington University in St. Louis is 6929. The TOEFL or IELTS is not required for U.S. citizens or U.S. permanent residents. A test of English language is required for all international students, unless you have completed an undergraduate or graduate degree in residency at a college or university located in the United States.

*For application purposes, all transcripts, test scores, CV and essays should be uploaded during the application process. For admissions considerations we accept the unofficial uploaded information to determine your status. Official documents are required upon admission to the PhD Program.

Because of our offerings and sequencing, we admit students to the PhD program for the fall semester only. You may submit your application beginning in September with the early decision submission deadline of December 15 and final consideration submission deadline of January 15.

Late applications or applications with late supporting documentation will not be considered.
We make our final admission decisions and announce the results no later than April 1.

Information for Re-applicants
Reapplying to the PhD Program at Olin Business School is not recommended unless there are considerable changes to the application materials submitted from a prior application. Any updated materials that are submitted will appear in your reapplication packet along with the materials from your previous application. Unless the application shows significant improvements or progressions, it is unlikely that the outcome will differ from the previous results.

If you have previously submitted an application to any Olin graduate program, you should not submit a new online application. Rather, please email Gina Poe in the graduate admissions office at poe@wustl.edu to receive specific reapplication instructions.
