Make sure you have a network connection. You will not be able to complete these steps unless you are connected to the campus network. Printing is available from both the wired and wireless networks.
Important! Off-Campus Printing: If you want to setup your printers and/or print from off-campus, you must first connect using the VPN Client. The VPN is NOT required for printing on campus.
1. To protect your username and password, you need to enable HTTPS support in Mac OS X. Start by opening the Terminal utility (Applications > Utilities > Terminal). 2. Logon with root privileges by entering the command: sudo -s
You will be prompted to enter your password.3. Change your directory to the CUPS directory by entering the command: cd /usr/libexec/cups/backend 4. Create a soft link to ipp and enable HTTPS support by entering the command: ln -s ipp https 5. Restart your Mac 6. Now that we've enabled HTTPS, we can start installing the drivers.
Download the print driver installers to your computer and save to your Desktop (or wherever you prefer).7. Double-click the files you downloaded to open the disk images. Double click the driver programs to install the drivers.
8. After the drivers are installed, open the Printer Setup Utility (Applications > Utilities > Printer Setup Utility) 9. Click the Add button. 10. Hold down the Option/Alt key on your keyboard and click the More Printers... button. 11. The Printer Browser window will open. From the dropdown menu at the top of the window, select Advanced.
For Device, select Internet Printing Protocol (https)from the dropdown list.
For Device Name and Device URI, enter the appropriate information from the table. Replace username and password with your Olin username and password.NOTE: When you change you Olin password, you will need to revisit this step and edit the password field before printing will work again.

For Printer Model, select the appropriate printer, either the HP LaserJet 4350 (for the HP black and white printers) or the Xerox Phaser 6360DX (for the Xerox color printers).
Then click Add.13. Repeat Steps 9-12 to add any other printers you want to use.
