 EXECUTIVE MBA RESIDENCIES

Expand perspectives through hands-on experience and global collaboration.

Whether you’re participating in the St. Louis- or Kansas City-based program, you will benefit from Olin’s domestic and international residencies by engaging in several rich collaborative experiences with fellow students here and across the globe. During these required residencies, Executive MBA program students will learn from their peers while forming deep personal and professional relationships. Olin’s residencies broaden your perspectives, increase your understanding of how business is conducted in different environments and provide expanded interaction with your entire class.

Orientation Residency
The Executive MBA experience begins with GO! Week Orientation, a weeklong residency at the Charles F. Knight Executive Education and Conference Center on the campus of Washington University in St. Louis. This intensive introduction to the curriculum, your classmates and the Olin community provides a deeply personal and memorable experience. During this required weeklong live-in stay, you'll meet your study team, commit to personal and team goals and engage in a number of rigorous academic exercises designed to lay the groundwork for the 20-month journey through the program.

Leadership Residency
True leadership requires the capacity to manage a variety of relationships up and down the hierarchy, within and across organizational groups, and inside and outside the organization in order to get things accomplished. Required for all Kansas City-based students and the St. Louis students in the once-a-month format, this weeklong live-in residency on the campus of Washington University includes two closely-integrated modules: (1) formal and Informal Leadership and (2) an informative forum on Corporate Governance to help you better understand executive leadership and relationships between and among executives, boards of directors, shareholders and other stakeholders.

International Management Residency
The required International Residency offers a unique opportunity to study international business in the world’s fastest growing business center—Shanghai, China. This residency gives you the opportunity to interact with the students and alumni of the Washington University-Fudan University Executive MBA Program. Study global markets, observe the cultural differences in business practices and learn more about the challenges faced by international corporations. In addition, you meet with executives at foreign-owned companies, joint venture operations between the United States and Chinese firms, and multinational corporations that compete in the region. Discussions with government officials and cultural experts supplement the content of this residency. The educational component of this residency is included in program tuition. Students are responsible for travel and lodging expenses.
