Asaf Manela earned his PhD in Finance and MBA from the University of Chicago. Manela also holds a BA in Economics and Computer Science from Boston University. In his dissertation he studies the relationship between the media coverage of drug approvals and stock returns and volume. His primary research interests are in asset pricing, the acquisition and diffusion of information in financial markets, the role of the media in finance, bank runs, learning and portfolio choice.
