CENTER FOR FINANCE AND ACCOUNTING RESEARCH

The Center for Finance and Accounting Research (CFAR) was established in 2007 and is the catalyst, focal point and coordinating body for all Olin Business School activities that lead to research in finance and accounting.

The Center recognizes the importance of finance and accounting issues in business. We invite companies to become members of the Center and bring us their company-specific challenges/projects. The Center will then assign a consulting team of students and faculty to work on each project, providing great value to our member companies. In addition to the access to exceptional Olin faculty and students that a consulting project provides, members benefit from groundbreaking research and participation in a variety of finance and accounting events.

Our mission is to:
  • Directly advance business practices in finance and accounting by performing company-funded applied research on issues in accounting and finance. This includes working with existing databases and collecting new data to construct proprietary databases to generate valuable benchmarking information.
  • Create unique opportunities for faculty growth and development through an ongoing infusion of insights, ideas and knowledge in finance and accounting that are borne out of collaborative research with business and students.
  • Directly enhance students' learning experiences by connecting faculty, students and companies through research on finance- and accounting-related topics; involve students with high-priority company projects; and develop state-of-the-art teaching materials for disseminating accounting and finance knowledge in all our programs.
  • Build leaders who are better equipped to be the innovators of future business through experiential activities and internships for students.
