What neighborhood should I live in?
This section includes information on various neighborhoods where MBAs choose to live, including apartment complexes and landlords, as well as general information about the areas themselves. This is not an exhaustive list, but we hope it helps you get a better sense of the diversity of options available to you.
St. Louis is divided into St. Louis City (South, Southwest, and North) and Mid, West, North, and South Counties. Clayton and University City, which border Washington University, are part of St. Louis County. Because of their proximity to campus, most students live in mid-county or St. Louis City.

This neighborhood is bordered by Forest Park Boulevard/Parkway to the South, Delmar Boulevard to the North, DeBaliviere to the West and Sarah Street to the East.General Neighborhood Features The Central West End is a lively neighborhood with numerous restaurants, galleries, bars and shops. It is close to BJC (Barnes, Children's , and Jewish) Hospitals, Wash U Med School and Forest Park, as well as St. Louis University. Washington University Shuttle Access The Wash U Shuttle makes numerous stops in this neighborhood, so it is possible to live here without a car. MetroLink stops in the neighborhood? University City is bordered by Milbrook Boulevard to the south, Skinker Boulevard to the east, Interstate 170 to the west (approximately) and Page Boulevard to the north.General Neighborhood Features "U City" is very close to campus and includes the U City Loop, an area with many shops, restaurants, and bars. It is a frequent nighttime destination and popular residence for many students. Most apartments are older walk-ups. Clayton is bordered by Route 170 to the West, Clayton Avenue to the South, Big Bend Boulevard to the East, and Delmar to the North.General Neighborhood Features Clayton, the county's seat of government, is the other "downtown" in St. Louis and is home to many businesses, restaurants and bars. Prices are slightly higher in this area, but it's a bit more upscale than other parts of St. Louis. Several specific neighborhoods are described below (see: The Moorlands, Demun) Washington University Shuttle Access The Wash U Shuttle makes limited stops here, so you would likely need a car to live in this area. The Moorlands

The Moorlands is an area just southwest of campus, bordered by Wydown Boulevard to the North, Hanley Road to the West, Big Bend Boulevard to the East and Clayton Road to the South.General Neighborhood Features This area is primarily residential, with some restaurants and other services on the Hanley Road side. Streets in this neighborhood include Demun, Rosebury, and Southwood.General Neighborhood Features Demun is a small neighborhood very close to school with cafés and restaurants and many low-rise walk up apartments. Richmond Heights is very close to campus and St. Mary's Hospital, as well as Forest Park and Highway 40/64. Maplewood is a bit farther south (about 3 miles).General Neighborhood Features Richmond Heights is just south of campus. The area is primarily residential, but very close to Clayton and Brentwood shops and restaurants. A new community center (with an indoor pool, exercise facilities and library) was recently opened for Richmond Heights and Maplewood residents. Brentwood and Rock Hill residents are also permitted to buy day passes. Washington University Shuttle Access The Wash U Shuttle only stops at Schnuck's (at the northern edge of Richmond Heights) and does not run all day, so you need a car to live in this area. Brentwood has many young professionals, families and graduate students.
