Marketing
Academic research in marketing at Olin focuses on building frameworks and models to understand and evaluate marketing strategies and their impact on customers, consumers and competitors. Our research provides decision makers the ability to think beyond current practices and offers answers to significant "what if" questions.
We conduct empirical tests on the implications of these models, quantify the effectiveness of different strategies, and explore the profit implications of using alternative strategies. We also identify important drivers that should govern strategic decisions and, consequently, the allocation of marketing resources.
"The marketing group at Olin is small, but cohesive, and very strong in the quantitative area. It is not unusual for a student to collaborate and receive individual mentoring from several faculty members. These relationships are particularly helpful as you develop a research agenda. It's an excellent environment for every student to achieve full potential. As a result, our graduates are placed in the top business schools, such as NYU and UC Berkeley."

"In my experience, the faculty at Olin are outstanding researchers and
exceptional teachers--especially my advisor, who has a powerful presence in
the classroom and infinite energy when it comes to keeping abreast of
current research. His capability to explain complex material is amazing, and
he derives great satisfaction from the personal successes of his students.
This a strong inspiration both to me and to my fellow students."
