Libraries
The Kopolow Business Library is a significant resource for doctoral students. In recent
years, it has made the transition from a library consisting primarily of print material
to one where most information is available online. Some examples of services that can be
accessed by students remotely are Dow Jones Interactive, Academic Universe (NEXIS),
InfoTrac, ABI, Moody's, Standard & Poor's, Global Access, and several others. Data
resources from Compustat, CRSP, SDC, and Datastream are also available. The library has
a very complete and historic collection of company filings, including annual reports,
10Ks, and proxies as well as a large number of annual reports from foreign-based
firms.
The business library continues to purchase print material to support the research needs
of students and faculty. Its holdings include around 30,000 volumes of books and
subscriptions to more than 500 journals and serials.
Olin Library, the central library for Washington University, also has resources of
interest to doctoral students. This library is the primary collector of economics
material in print and online. Some of the online services supported by the Olin Library
include EconLit and Web of Science (for the Social Sciences Citation Index and Science
Citation Index). Olin Library also provides interlibrary loan and various other services
in support of doctoral student research.
