"Pursuing a PhD in business requires a strong academic background, commitment, and a passion to excel. Our faculty members are globally recognized as research leaders and teachers and are well cited for their scholarly work. Our goal is to train prospective students, instilling in them the same values."
Greetings
I am delighted to welcome you and your interest in the Olin Ph.D. program. I encourage you to learn more about the program, our requirements and our successes. At the end of it, and if you think that you would fit in our program, I strongly urge you to apply online. Should you have any questions or require further assistance, please send an email to wilsonc@wustl.edu.
Let me say a few words about our program and why you should consider us seriously.
We are a small school but with a world class research faculty. Our faculty's research is well cited with almost 900 citations or 14 citations per faculty member in the year 2004. The Olin program is designed to leverage our strength by providing you rigorous training in the paradigm areas of economics, econometrics, and quantitative methods so that you are well equipped to undertake applied research in your chosen area of concentration. Our students tell us that our program is demanding but they also tell us that the support of the faculty and the mentoring is world class. We are selective and keep our enrollment small which leads to a better match of your interest and skills with the faculty that results in more personal attention and research collaboration. We not only help you to acquire the necessary research skills but also help you to develop your teaching potential. We have specific workshops to improve your communication skills, teaching and presentation, and develop materials to market you better.
To succeed in our program you must have a good quantitative background, willing and able to learn new tools and techniques, be passionate about research and make a commitment with your time to engage in serious and scholarly work helped by a renowned faculty that wants to you succeed.
