Hiring Olin international students is easier than you might think. In fact, most of our international students can work in their fields of study as interns or full-time employees for 12 to 18 months without any involvement on your part. Long-term employment is a viable option, allowing you to retain the international talent your organization needs.
International Students are Fully U.S. Work-Authorized for Summer Internships: International students are eligible to work in the United States as summer interns with no additional expense or work on your part. The only requirement from your firm is an offer letter. There is no requirement that U.S. citizen applicants be recruited for intern positions before international applicants.
International Students are Fully U.S. Work-Authorized for Full-Time Employment: Most international students who complete a U.S. degree are eligible for 12 to 18 months of employment in the United States for "practical or academic training." No action is required on your part to enable students with the student visa to start work immediately. The student will have an Employment Authorization Document as proof of employability.
International Students are Eligible for Long-term Employment: The H-1B or Temporary Specialty Worker visa allows international students to continue working for you without interruption for up to six more years. Application for the H-1B is made through the Department of Labor and the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). For most firms, there is no requirement that U.S. citizen applicants be recruited for H1-B positions before international applicants.
Other options besides the H-1B may be available, such as TN, E-3, H-1B1, L-1 or O-1.
