Career Preparation

All of the educational activities and experiences you will engage in as a BSBA at Olin are designed to culminate in one important objective: attaining a meaningful post-graduate career. Before you can reach this goal you will uncover interests, develop skills, and gain knowledge. This is the time to think deeply about who you are, what you have to offer, what you would like to do, and where you want to go. It is the time to plot the route that will take you from where you are to where you want to be, to map out the career you envision for yourself.

You will not have to navigate this journey alone. Weston Career Center's expert career advisors provide an array of valuable resources to help you plan your journey with care, including one-on-one advising appointments, practice interviews, Managing Your Business Career Strategy Course (MGMT 200), and other Weston Career Center workshops and events.

MYBCS is targeted to students enrolled in the Olin Business School. The course includes skill training, self-assessment, building target lists, networking, and resume writing - all the tools you will need to start an effective job search. In addition, each major at Olin is explained by a member of the Olin faculty, as well as types of jobs that can come from that major. Students also hear from panels of professionals who work in each of the fields that tie to each major.

In addition, the Weston Career Center has developed many resources to support you. You can access these resources following the same sequence you'll follow in The Career Preparation Course. Career Preparation and Weston Career Center programs and workshops together follow the six phases of a successful career search process:

Phase 1: Discover Yourself
Phase 2: Explore Your Career Options: Research and Networking
Phase 3: Register with the Weston Career Center
Phase 4: Communicate: Résumés, Cover Letters, and Correspondence
Phase 5: Get The Position: Interviewing
Phase 6: Evaluate and Accept Your Offer
