International Students
If you are moving to a new country to go to school or work, you face a number of challenges all at once-above and beyond the challenges faced by those already living and working in their home countries. You must get used to a new school, new climate, new food, new community, new people, and new customs-all the elements that make up a new and different culture. If you take a job, you have the additional task of adapting to the company culture-with all the unspoken rules that existing employees may take for granted.
Olin recognizes that facing the unknown can be unsettling. For this reason, Olin provides resources to help international students meet these challenges successfully, including the Office for International Students and Scholars, and the Weston Career Center.
The Weston Career Center provides international students with the resources needed to plan and manage their careers-whether you are intending to work in the United States, or are expecting to return to your home country or another country to work. The Weston Career Center has an international advisor, Simona Tripodi, who will work with you to address your needs, whatever your employment objectives may be.
As a full-time international student, you will be able to access the full range of Weston Career Center activities. This includes resources to help you with everything from self-assessment, career planning, cover letter and résumé writing, to identifying target industries and companies, marketing, interviewing, evaluating, and negotiating an offer.
The Office for International Students and Scholars helps international students with many issues, including Visa and immigration issues, and cross-cultural training and orientation. For more information visit: The Office for International Students and Scholars.
