Phase Two: Explore Your Career Options / Research & Networking

Now that you have worked on the discovery phase, you have learned more about yourself, what interests you and what your strengths are. Based on the work you have done so far, it is time, in Phase Two, to explore your career options. This involves linking your interests and strengths to specific industries and companies. Here you will find resources to assist you in the process of building your knowledge of industries, job functions and companies.

Research
The conventional wisdom, "Be Prepared" translates to "do your research" when applied to a career search. This phase affords you an opportunity to undertake that critical research. You will investigate industries, roles, and employers in preparation for beginning the interviewing process.

Networking
Networking continues to be one of the most crucially important skills that you need to develop in order to be successful in the job search process. Networking expands your options, sometimes in unexpected ways; it can reveal positions that have not yet been posted or publicized. Networking can help you to develop life-long contacts and help you uncover the hidden job market. Over 70% of job seekers with experience find their jobs through networking. Sharpening your networking skills can make all the difference in your job search process.
